MENDEL - genetic experiments on a computer

Status: freeware, no support
Platform: MS-DOS
Language: English, Slovak, German

The development of genetics as an experimental science was greatly helped by the use of genetic models - organisms that are easy to breed and care for, that breed quickly and have large number of offspring and are characterized by well-defined phenotypic traits influenced by a small number of genes. MENDEL is a system of programs for personal computer which implements a simplified model of genetic processes that may be used in teaching genetics by means of "laboratory exercises". It was designed to be a self-contained unit more or less independent of the host operating system.
